NAB’s Meeting with Top Real Estate Marketing Companies – Key Highlights
Real estate in Pakistan has seen fast growth. But it also faces serious problems, like fraud and long delays in justice.
To solve this, NAB called a meeting with top real estate marketing companies on June 12. Mr. Nasir Gondal, CEO of Gondal Group of Marketing, attended the session.
In this blog, Mr. Nasir Gondal shares what happened in that meeting. His goal is to help make real estate safe for all investors.
Why NAB Called This Meeting
The meeting was held at NAB’s Islamabad office. It was led by NAB’s Director General, along with senior officers.
They invited four leading real estate marketing companies from across Pakistan. Mr. Nasir Gondal was among the few respected voices at the table.
The main focus was on real estate fraud, and how to protect people from scams. Mr. Nasir Gondal shared his expert views, based on years of real estate experience.
Mr. Nasir Gondal’s Key Points at the Meeting
-
People Wait Too Long for Justice
Mr. Gondal explained how real estate fraud hurt many families. He said many people who invested in fake projects had to wait 15-20 years. Even then, they only got back 40-50% of their money.
He told NAB:
“If people only get half their money after 20 years, they lose hope. We need faster action within 1 to 2 years and we must try to return full amounts.”
NAB agreed and shared that in some cases, they had recovered up to 300% of the claimed amounts.
-
Make Complaint System Easy for Public
Mr. Nasir Gondal stressed that the process for filing fraud complaints must be simple.
He said victims feel confused and helpless. They should be able to file complaints easily and get regular updates.
“We must create a system where people can raise issues with confidence. Trust can only come from clear communication.”
3. Apply RERA Law Like Dubai
Mr. Gondal shared that Pakistan passed the RERA law in 2022, but it has not been fully implemented.
He explained how Dubai’s real estate system protects buyers. In Dubai, a secure escrow account is used. Builders must first deposit 25% of the total project cost into this account.
Buyers then make payments into the same escrow account – not to the builder directly. Builders can only access this money after authorities verify real construction progress.
“Even if a builder runs away, buyers still get protection. Pakistan must apply this system. It will stop fraud and protect buyer money.”
Mr. Gondal strongly recommended that NAB push for full application of the RERA law in Pakistan. This will help real estate become more secure and reliable for everyone.
-
Promote Honest Real Estate Marketers
Mr. Nasir Gondal said that many fake companies have entered the market since 2018. Now is the right time to clean up the sector.
He suggested that NAB should:
- Verify and list trusted real estate marketing companies
- Publish that list online and on social media
“When the market improves again, people will know where to invest safely.”
-
Start Monthly Open Public Forums
Mr. Gondal also gave a new idea – monthly open public forums by NAB.
He said people should be able to speak directly with senior NAB officers. These open sessions can be “Just like police do open kachairis, NAB should also stay connected to public concerns.”
